Implementation phase
The project to renovate the Oton Župančič Memorial House in Vinica is entering an important new stage. With the preparatory activities, content planning and development guidelines completed, the project is now moving into the phase of concrete implementation.
The aim of the renovation is to preserve the authenticity of the space and the legacy of one of the most important Slovenian poets, while offering visitors a more modern, accessible and richer way of learning about his life and work. The renovated house will bring together the historic character of the place, the story of Župančič and new ways of interpreting cultural heritage.
A new look rooted in the story
Oton Župančič remains at the heart of the renovation: his work, his childhood in Vinica and his deep connection with Bela krajina. The content will be designed so that visitors can gradually discover his world, from personal stories and literary work to the wider historical and cultural setting.
Another important part of the project is a new way of presenting the content. Classic museum elements will be complemented by modern interpretation, audiovisual content and interactive points that will adapt the visit to visitors of different generations.
The Memorial House as a living cultural space
The renovation is not only about updating the exhibition. One of the key goals of the project is to establish the Oton Župančič Memorial House even more firmly among the main cultural landmarks of Bela krajina.
The house will remain a place of remembrance and research, but also a place for events, encounters, education and new interpretations of Župančič’s legacy.
The renovation will create better conditions for exhibitions, educational programmes, literary events, guided tours and other activities for domestic and international visitors.
